#GivingTuesday

The Newman Center is participating in #GivingTuesday again this year! Will you help us reach our $3,000 goal by making a donation between the hours of 12:00am and 11:59pm on November 27, 2018?

More about #GivingTuesday:

Entering its seventh year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (November 27) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.

Prayer is the truly the most cherished gift you can give to the Newman Center. First and foremost on this #GivingTuesday, we want to ask for your prayers.

Please pray for all the students who walk through the doors of the Newman Center this year. Please pray for our staff whose dedicated talents make our ministries to thousands of young seekers possible. Please pray for Father Matya and Father Mills who work seven days a week aiding students on their journey toward God. We know that not all have the ability to give large monetary donations of support, but we all have time right now to lift each other up in prayer!

We want to pray for you this #GivingTuesday, too. The Newman Center’s staff holy hour this morning is dedicated to your intentions. Please message us any specific intentions for which we can pray!

Can I make a #GivingTuesday donation before Nov. 27?
Yes! Though we encourage donations to be submitted on that day, we gladly accept #GivingTuesday donations via the button above any time leading up to the event.

What is #MyGivingStory?
We want to hear why you give to the Newman Center! On the donation page above, please take a few moments to share the good, the inspiring, and the hopeful that prompted your donation.

Give To Lincoln Day!

THE NEWMAN CENTER IS AN OFFICIAL PARTICIPANT IN GIVE TO LINCOLN DAY!

Again this year, the Newman Center is participating in the Lincoln-wide non-profit fundraising event on May 31, 2018! Give a donation of any amount on this day, and your donation will be increased by a pool of matching gift funds through the Lincoln Community Foundation. In addition, some friends of the Newman Center have committed to an internal match! In other words, your online or in-person donations go so much further on May 31!

WHAT IS GIVE TO LINCOLN DAY?

Give to Lincoln Day is a 24-hour event that encourages everyone to contribute to Lincoln and Lancaster County nonprofit organizations through a single online giving platform on May 31. Give to Lincoln Day is coordinated by Lincoln Community Foundation, in partnership with local nonprofit organizations. Every donation given makes a bigger impact because nonprofits also get a proportional share of a $400,000 challenge match fund provided by Lincoln Community Foundation and the sponsors listed on their site.

Starting May 1st, 2018, and ending May 31st, 2018, visit the page below to make your Give to Lincoln Day donation!

CAN I GIVE OFFLINE OR IN PERSON?

Cash and check donations before May 31 MUST be given (or mailed) directly to the Newman Center at 320 N 16th St., Lincoln, NE 68521 and must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, May 30th. Checks must be written to “Lincoln Community Foundation” with "Newman Center" specified in the memo line.

Donations may also be made in person on May 31 by cash or check at one of the three donation stations listed below:

  • Lincoln Community Foundation office, 215 Centennial Mall South, from 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • Tower Square, 13th & P Streets, from 10:00am to 2:00pm
  • West Gate Bank, 6003 Old Cheney Road, 9:00am to 4:00pm

LCF will charge the same 2.9% fee as Firespring Foundation charges to online gifts. Fees received from offline gifts are directed to community grants for local nonprofits. All donations are final and cannot be refunded. Complete details may be found here

There will be praise and worship music, priests hearing Confessions, and prayer teams available for those who would like to pray with someone.

Students: FOCUS will oversee street teams that go out to find others to invite into our church. If you’d like to be on a street team, stay tuned for announcements about an upcoming training session!
