Launched in 2010, our “A Great Problem to Have” Capital Campaign and construction projects, we now better serve the needs of over 6,300 Catholic students attending the University today and generations more to come.
The generosity of early campaign donors has put us well on our way toward our initial $25 million goal, but we need every alum, parent, grandparent, and friend of the Newman Center to consider a sacrificial gift to the campaign. We invite you to join thousands of others from across the country to support this truly historic effort. Thank you for your prayers and support. Together we have been blessed with “A Great Problem to Have!”
Pledges are commitments made in good faith, but are not legally binding. You may want to consider stretching pledges over the five-year campaign period to maximize the total amount of your support. This commitment can be fulfilled through monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual installments. We encourage donors to consider a 10-20% initial payment.
Cash Gifts made by cash or check are the most common and will allow Newman Center – St. Thomas Aquinas Church to move forward more quickly with the project. Automated electronic funds transfers and credit card pledge payments can be used for your convenience.

Your gift to Newman Center – St. Thomas Aquinas Church will make a lasting difference for the thousands of future Catholic students who will continue to grow in their faith through association with the Newman Center. You may be interested in a naming opportunity to commemorate your gift or the collective gift of your family. A gift may also be made in honor of or in memory of someone as a lasting tribute. Your gift may be recognized by name on plaques or donor wall.
Many companies and corporations match gifts made by their employees to non-profits. These matching funds can double, triple or even quadruple your gift. Check with your human resources office or business office to get matching gift documentation.
Some companies and corporations will not match gifts to religious organizations. Most will, however, match funds to educational institutions. In this case, donors may make a gift to the Newman Center through the NU Foundation. Gifts should be directed to “UNL Newman Center Fund #10006.” Donors will receive recognition as a donor to the NU Foundation and to the Newman Center.
Charitable gifts of stocks, bonds or mutual funds that have been held for at least one year and have appreciated offer special tax advantages. You will receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the gift, but you will not have to pay capital gains tax on the appreciated amount. If you sell depreciated stock and contribute the proceeds, you will receive both a tax deduction for the charitable gift and deduction for the capital loss.
