Ronald and Shirley Huss Scholarship Funds

Ron and Shirley Huss partnered with the Newman Center and The Catholic Foundation of Southern Nebraska in 2012 to establish two scholarship funds as a perpetual investment into the spiritual formation of Catholic students attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Scholarships are awarded annually during the St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarship Dinner.

Catholic Sorority Scholarship

Ronald and Shirley Huss Catholic Sorority Scholarship Fund – Provides annual scholarships to active members of Pi Alpha Chi Sorority who best live the ideals of the Citizenship, Fellowship, Leadership and Scholarship pillars.

Applicant shall exemplify the following:

1. Scholarship will be awarded to an active residential member in good standing whom best lives the ideals of the Citizenship, Fellowship, Leadership and Scholarship pillars.
2. Recipient may be awarded the scholarship more than one time as an active residential member. 
3. Materials submitted shall be: a 300 word essay describing how the applicant lives the 4 pillars and why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship; up-to-date resume; 1 letter of recommendation in support of the applicant – recommendation letters should come from faculty, advisors, etc. 
4. Applications are accepted October 9, 2017 through December 4th, 2017. The Scholarship will be awarded at the annual initiation banquet in the spring.

Catholic Fraternity Scholarship

Ronald and Shirley Huss Catholic Fraternity Scholarship Fund – Provides annual scholarships to active residential members of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity who exemplify the ideals of the Fraternal, Intellectual, Social, Spiritual and Leadership pillars.

Applicant shall exemplify the following:

1. Scholarship will be awarded to a current pledge class member in good standing whom best lives the ideals of the Fraternal, Intellectual, Social, and Spiritual pillars. 
2. Recipient may be awarded the scholarship more than one time as an active residential member. 
3. Materials submitted shall be: a 300 word essay describing how the applicant lives the 4 pillars and why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship; up-to-date resume; 1 letter of recommendation in support of the applicant – recommendation letters should come from faculty, advisors, etc. 
4. Applications are accepted October 15, 2017 through December 5, 2017. The Scholarship will be awarded at the annual initiation banquet in the spring.
