Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time
The Lord gives us an invitation today—one we can accept or reject. Our culture wrestles with the “fear of missing out,” but even more now with the “fear of a better offer.” We hesitate to say yes because we wonder if something better might come along. We think more options will bring happiness—or at least protect us from unhappiness.
But Jesus reminds us: strive to enter through the narrow gate. At first, this can sound harsh, but it’s really an act of mercy. The gate is narrow not because God excludes, but because there is only one way—and that way is Jesus Himself.
His mercy is that we don’t have to keep searching. We don’t need to leave every door open. In Him, there is no better offer. Only here do we find the fullness of truth, the joy we long for, and our true identity.
