Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Feb 16, 2025    Fr. Ryan Kaup

"Woe to you who are filled now, for you will be hungry."

These are the words of Jesus from today's Gospel. Although they may seem harsh at first glance, they are indicative of a deeper truth of who we are.

We were not made for this world. We were made for Heaven, and we will never be truly satisfied until we are there with Jesus.

Until we are there, there will always exist within us an ache for Him.

Today, Jesus encourages us to ache for Him and to cling not to the counterfeit sustenance and fulfillment that our world has to offer us. The ache is good, because it leads us to Him: the ultimate source of our fulfillment. He promises to fulfill us if we can simply let go and let Him do it.

"Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied."
