Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Sep 14, 2025    Fr. Ryan Kaup

In focusing on the cross, the Church calls us to look upon it and exalt in what our friend has done for us. It is an invitation that every time we enter the church, we enter with determination and focus to give gratitude.

Jesus chooses to keep His wounds in His glorified body, showing us that the wounds of the cross are necessary and good. For in His resurrection as an Easter people, we sing Alleluia to the cross and what our friend, Jesus, has done to set us free.

In our confusion, suffering, and sin, we bring these to the foot of the cross. Where in turn we receive the Father’s love. Where we learn nothing is impossible for God. Where we can withstand anything with Him. Where we live in the power of the resurrection. Where sin and death is concurred. Where we don’t have to be afraid.

It is through the cross that the resurrection is experienced, in its fullest joy, power, and glory.
