Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Aug 17, 2025 • Fr. Ryan Kaup
Where we fix our eyes makes all the difference. Scripture calls us to fix our eyes on Jesus but, where were His eyes fixed? Even in His suffering, His gaze was on the Father and the joy that lay before Him. Before His death, Jesus sat in darkness, waiting, carrying the weight of loneliness and fear. Yet He endured because He saw a light that no one else could see - the joy of the Father.
In our own darkness, it is easy to lose sight of Him, to let discouragement have power over us. But with even a small turn of the heart toward Jesus, He invites us into His joy and restores our hope.
