Feast of the Assumption of Mary

The prophet Simeon prophesied over our mother, Mary. He promised her, "A sword will pierce your heart." And yet, she said yes throughout her life with unwavering faith.

We often tremble at the thought of death, but Mary's response to this prophesy offers us comfort. Because of the crucifixion of Jesus and his triumph over death, Mary is assumed into heaven, untouched by death.

Mary's story reminds us that death is conquered and holds no power over us. Death is not to be feared, it is to be seen as a passage to eternal life.
