First Sunday of Advent

Nov 30, 2025    Fr. Ryan Kaup

"However, the basic condition of life always has an advent dimension.

Boundaries and hunger and thirst and lack of fulfillment, and promise and movement toward one another.

That means, however, that we basically remain without shelter, underway and open until the final encounter with all the humble blessedness and painful pleasure of this openness. There is no interim finality and the attempt to create final conclusions is an old temptation of mankind."

- Advent of the Heart by Alfred Delp

To stay awake is to walk through the reality of our lives through three steps. The first being to throw off the weight of sin to be able to make the journey that is long and far. The second is to step into the view of the world passing away. To be able to look past these deaths into eternity because we have a Savior that has redeemed it all. The third finally to continue to walk towards the light of the Lord. To our true home and true purpose in Him.
