6th Sunday of Easter

When Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit, He is making clear that He does not simply want us to not feel like orphans but so that we don't LIVE as orphans. While we were created good, because of the Fall, without the Holy Spirit, we would choose the worst things this world can offer us. Without grace, we would so quickly betray the Lord and the saints remind us of this fact over and over again. When we live as orphans, we try to do this life on our own and that will only lead us into Hell. He sent the Holy Spirit so that we could live as children and be brought into the heights of Heaven.
