Christ the King Sunday

This feast of Christ the King was instituted after the persecutions in Mexico in the 1700s. In response to the revolution that was trying to eliminate the Church and it's influence in Mexico, Catholic men rose up and fought back. They took up as their rallying cry "Viva Cristo Rey!" ("Long Live Christ the King"). Their incredible acts of courage and bravery in the face of martyrdom encourage us to allow Jesus to become the King of every part of our hearts and lives so that we took can declare "Viva Cristo Rey!"
